When It’s Time to Replace the Pipes — Not Just Fix Them
Some plumbing problems can’t be patched. If your home has aging galvanized steel, CPVC, corroded copper, or failing polybutylene pipes, repeated repairs are just buying time. Repiping replaces your entire water supply system with modern, reliable materials, giving you a fresh start and the peace of mind that comes with it. Hefner Plumbing provides complete whole-home and partial repiping services for residential and light commercial properties throughout Ocala and Marion County.
Signs You May Need to Repipe Your Home
Repiping isn’t always the first option, but sometimes it’s the right one. Watch for these warning signs:
- Frequent leaks: if you’re calling a plumber every few months for a new leak, the pipe itself is failing, not just a single joint Discolored water: brown or rust-colored water coming from your taps is a sign of corrosion inside your pipes
- Low water pressure throughout the house: buildup inside aging pipes restricts flow to every fixture
- Visible corrosion or green staining on exposed pipes under sinks or in crawl spaces
- Older home with original plumbing: homes built before 1970 often still have their original galvanized steel supply lines, which have a lifespan of 40–70 years
What Materials Do We Use?
We repipe using PEX pipe exclusively, the most trusted modern piping material for residential water supply systems.
- PEX (Cross-linked Polyethylene) is flexible, freeze-resistant, and easier to route through walls with minimal disruption to your home.
- We use PEX with solid brass fittings and shutoff valves.
- All PEX piping installed in attics and walls will be insulated where accessible.
What to Expect During a Repipe
A whole-home repipe sounds like a major undertaking, and it is, but our crew works efficiently to minimize disruption to your daily life. Here’s what the process typically looks like:
- Assessment: we inspect your existing system and map out the full scope of work
- Installation: new supply lines are run throughout the home, typically in two to three days for most residential properties
- Drywall access points: small openings are made where needed to route new lines; we keep these minimal and clean
- Pressure testing: the completed system is tested under pressure before any walls are closed
- Cleanup and restoration: we clean up our work areas before leaving
